Inflation at the consumer level remains tame, outside of increases in food and energy prices.

The Labor Department’s consumer price index rose 0.2 percent in May, matching April’s increase. Economists project that the June reading, due out today, will be little changed from the previous month and slightly higher than a year earlier.
