UCO, OCU noted as great places to work
Two Oklahoma universities were recognized Monday by The Chronicle of Higher Education as among the nation’s 2018 Great Colleges to Work For. The list is based on responses from more than 53,000 people at 253 institutions and data from the U.S. Department of Education compiled by ModernThink LLC for The Chronicle.
The University of Central Oklahoma was named to the list for the 10th time. UCO joins Baylor University, Texas Christian University and University of Notre Dame, among others, on the honor roll of large institutions.
The university was recognized for the areas of collaborative governance; confidence in senior leadership; facilities, workspace and security; professional/ career development programs; teaching environment; tenure clarity and process; and work/life balance.
“Our focus is to help students learn and to take care of one another. These characteristics have been cited by students, faculty, and staff as enduring traits,” President Don Betz said.
Oklahoma City University also made the list. It was recognized for its commitment to work/life balance. “Our wellness offerings, paid leave time and strong participation in events such as the Corporate Challenge helped us rank as one of the best higher education employers in the nation in this category,” OCU President Martha Burger said.
