Former OU standout Neuse lifts Nashville over OKC

— Former University of Oklahoma standout Sheldon Neuse hit a two-run homer and drove in four runs as the Nashville Sounds defeated the Oklahoma City Dodgers 8-5 on Sunday night.

After a three-run second inning, Neuse's home run in the third off OKC starter Manny Banuelos gave Nashville a 5-0 lead.

OKC responded with one run in the fourth and two in the fifth, but Nashville pulled away after Neuse drove in two more runs on a fifth-inning double.

Banuelos allowed seven runs in five innings and fell to 8-5 on the season, while Nashville starter James Naile was credited with the win. Naile (6-9) tossed 6 innings and allowed three earned runs.

Kyle Farmer and Connor Joe each had solo home runs for OKC, which outhit Nashville 10-8.

OKC splits doublehead­er against Nashville on Saturday

The Oklahoma City Dodgers split their doublehead­er against the Nashville Sounds on Saturday, winning the early game 6-1 before losing 4-0 in the second game.

In the first game, OKC scored five runs in the second inning as they cruised past the Sounds.

In the late matchup, Bruce Maxwell drove in two runs and Anthony Garcia hit a solo homer to help Nashville earn their first win of the four-game series.

Former OU pitcher Zach Neal started on the mound for OKC and took the loss. Neal (2-1) allowed three hits and three runs in four innings.

Reliever Dean Kiekhefer improved the 6-0 on the season after tossing three scoreless innings of two-hit ball.
