ACOG to hire intern to help expand alternative fuel use
The Association of Central Oklahoma Governments will be using federal dollars to hire an intern to work with it to develop the ongoing adoption and expansion of alternative fuel vehicles and fueling stations, it has announced.
The money is coming through a grant provided by the U.S. Department of Energy’s Vehicle Technology Office Clean Cities University Workforce Development Program, and the position is open for the fall 2018 and spring 2019 semesters. The association did not say how much money was awarded for the grant.
The intern will work with association and the Central Oklahoma Clean Cities Coalition not only to adopt and expand the use of alternative fuel vehicles, but also to help prepare the region for connected/autonomous vehicle technology.
The intern also will be asked to research other transportation alternatives for central Oklahomans.
Association officials said it has received money to hire an intern for the position the past two years, and said one of the grant’s goals is to help the organization identify and retain new Oklahoma professionals pursuing public service careers, particularly ones who are interested in emerging transportation opportunities.
