OKC hosts Indian Gaming Association
Tribal gaming leaders from across the state are gathering in Oklahoma City this week for the Oklahoma Indian Gaming Association Trade Show and Conference.
The conference began Monday and concludes Wednesday at the Cox Convention Center. Events at the conference included a golf tournament Monday, and meetings Tuesday and Wednesday. Topics ranged from sports betting, changes to alcohol laws, leadership development and more.
Thousands of attendees are expected throughout the conference. Nearly 40 breakout sessions are set to occur Tuesday and Wednesday. A trade floor with dozens of vendors is set up in the convention center, allowing vendors to display new products that could be making an appearance in Oklahoma casinos in the future. Changes in ball and dice legislation were a much discussed topic at the convention, and new equipment on the trade floor included potential ball and dice games.
“I have had the privilege of being a part of OIGA for many years,” Association Chairman David J. Qualls said. “I am incredibly proud of what our industry has done for the state of Oklahoma, and we have a bright future ahead of us. We will welcome people from all over the world to Oklahoma City for our conference and trade show, and we are excited for them to experience Oklahoma’s famous hospitality.”
The association is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is the advancement of Indian peoples economically, socially and politically. Founded in 1986, the organization represents tribes and businesses engaged in gaming enterprises in Oklahoma.
