Centennial farm family is recognized

- FROM STAFF AND TULSA WORLD REPORTS

Canadian County farm owners Roger and Pamela Schubnell have received an Oklahoma Centennial Farm Award, Deputy State Historic Preservation Officer Lynda Ozan announced.

The family has grown wheat and hay and raised cattle since great-grandfather John Schubnell settled the land near Yukon in 1889.

To qualify for a Centennial Farm or Ranch Award, a property must be owned by a family member for at least 100 years and must be operated or occupied by a family member or leased out by a family member. The property must include a minimum of 40 acres and gross annual sales of at least $1,000.

The Oklahoma Historical Society and the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry have sponsored the Centennial Farm and Ranch Awards for 29 years, in which time 69 awards have been given in Canadian County.

Frontier adds, drops nonstop flights

TULSA — Budget carrier Frontier Airlines is adding a nonstop flight and dropping another one from Tulsa beginning in August, an airport spokeswoman said.

The last nonstop departure to San Diego from Tulsa International Airport is Aug. 9, and the first nonstop to San Antonio is scheduled for Aug. 12, Alexis Higgins said.

“When we announced these routes they were announced as seasonal, meaning they would operate the summer season and suspend in the fall,” Frontier Airlines spokesman Richard Oliver III said in an email of the handful of routes the airline recently suspended nationwide. “Frontier flies a very seasonal network that allows us to better match capacity with demand in the slower travel months.”

Agency helps Children’s Hospital

American Insurance Partners, LLC, a local insurance agency, is partnering with the Children’s Hospital Foundation to raise funds for children in need.

“After touring the Children’s Hospital, I immediately felt the need, as a small-business owner from Oklahoma, to help these children out however I could. So I created the Community Cause Campaign which turned out to be an amazing way to both help the Children’s Hospital Foundation, but also Oklahomans who need help with their insurance,” said Blake Johnson, President & CEO of American Insurance Partners.

For every referral the agency receives that they quote, the agency is able to donate $10 to the Children’s Hospital Foundation on behalf of the referring person.

“There’s no obligation to purchase insurance, it simply allows me the opportunity to give the prospect additional options and recommendations,” Johnson said. Oklahoma Sweet: Oklahoma Sour:
