Large East downs Large West by winning last five matches

Large East 36, Large West 19

Noteworthy: Union’s Caron Watson claimed a 4-1 decision over Mustang’s Joe Lupton at 120 pounds, the first of three straight wins for the East, which grabbed an early 12-4 lead.

After the West rallied to lead 19-12, Coweta’s Bryan Ford pinned his opponent at 170 and Johnson followed with a decision as the East regained a 21-19 cushion, which it would not relinquish. Edison’s Jerome Townsell, Pryor’s Trey Carnes and Dakota McCaleb of Coweta ended the dual with wins for the East.

Jaryn Curry of Choctaw claimed a hard-fought 1-0 decision over Broken Arrow’s Caleb Wise at 160, which capped four straight wins of the West as it took a 19-12 lead before dropping the final five matches.

Top performanc­es: Ford, Townsell and Carnes each earned bonus points with pins down the stretch for the East, which tallied four pins overall in the dual. For the West, Yukon’s Studd Morris began the dual with a 14-3 major decision over Ada’s Carter Patterson at 113. Choctaw’s Connor Holman, Yukon’s Jaxen Gilmore and Nick Mahan of Lawton MacArthur also snagged bonus points with major decision wins.

Small West 33, Small East 14 Noteworthy: Clinton’s Hayden Williams opened with a technical fall victory at 113 over Newkirk’s Jeffri Juanes. Top performanc­es: Kingfisher’s Jameson Hale and Tuttle’s Maison Duke each rallied pins for the West squad. Cleveland’s Blake Hickerson claimed the lone pin for the East at 132. Cascia Hall’s Dalton Abney won a major decision at 182.
