Angel Tree program to begin scheduling appointmen­ts

The Salvation Army Central Oklahoma Area Command will begin scheduling appointmen­ts for the 2018 Angel Tree program for residents in Oklahoma County beginning at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the social services office, 1001 N Pennsylvan­ia.

The Angel Tree program helps families with children up to age 12 and seniors ages 62 and older by providing Christmas assistance. Last year, more than 2,000 Angels received Christmas assistance through The Salvation Army Central Oklahoma Area Command's Angel Tree program.

Beginning Aug. 1, appointmen­t letters will be available from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; and 9 a.m. to noon Fridays.

To receive Christmas assistance from The Salvation Army, individual­s must bring a photo ID to collect an appointmen­t letter and proof of residency (current gas or electric bill, lease agreement or notarized letter from the individual with whom one is staying).

Residents of Oklahoma County and residents of ZIP codes 73159, 73165 and 73170 of Cleveland County may come during the designated hours to receive an appointmen­t letter.
