3 charged in June killing

TULSA — Three alleged members of a Tulsa motorcycle gang accused of shooting and killing a man outside an east Tulsa bar in June were charged with second-degree murder this week.

Court records show that Kenneth Ray Walters III, 40, Kevin Lee Fields, 45, and Mark E. Alexander, 48, also were charged with aggravated assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and a gang-related offense in connection with the death of James Mitchell, 49.

Tulsa police officers were called the night of June 3 to Torchy's Briar Patch, 1111 S 124th East Ave., where they eventually found Mitchell's body in the front yard of a home just south of the bar.

Officers also found a 34-year-old man near the bar who had been shot in the head, though the bullet did not penetrate his skull. The man was treated and released at a local hospital.

Court documents accuse the men of being members of motorcycle gang Hell's Lovers.

Tulsa homicide Sgt. Dave Walker said in June that Mitchell and the other man assaulted were regulars at the bar. That night, they were confronted by a group of as many as 10 people. A fight broke out, during which the younger man was shot in the head as Mitchell fled south, where he was eventually shot.

Fields was arrested and booked into the Tulsa County jail about 2:10 a.m. Tuesday. He was being held in lieu of a $506,000 bond on the charges against him.

Walters and Alexander remained at large Tuesday afternoon.
