MORNING ROUNDUP
Sale to return from DL Sunday
Boston Red Sox ace
Chris Sale is scheduled to come off the 10-day disabled list and start against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday.
Sale (11-4) has not pitched since July 27 against Minnesota because of mild left shoulder inflammation.
He will have missed two starts when he returns to the Red Sox rotation and pitches in Baltimore.
Sale leads the American League with a 2.04 ERA and 207 strikeouts.
Nationals sign Greg Holland
The Washington Nationals announced Tuesday they have signed free agent reliever Greg Holland. The right-hander was 0-2 with a 7.92 ERA in 32 games with St. Louis before being designated for assignment on July 27. Holland, a three-time All-Star with 186 career saves, worked out with Washington on Monday.
Browns rookie Callaway cited for pot possession
Antonio Callaway didn't take long to run into trouble with the Browns. The fourth-round draft pick and wide receiver from Florida, who arrived in Cleveland with a history of issues while in college, was cited early Sunday morning for marijuana possession and driving with a suspended license.
According to a report by police in Strongsville, Ohio, Callaway was pulled over in his car after he failed to yield to oncoming traffic. Police found a "small amount" of marijuana and cited Callaway.
Callaway was suspended while at Florida last season for involvement in a credit card fraud case, and he provided a diluted urine sample at the NFL combine.
Foles misses another practice
Nick Foles has missed three straight practices because of muscle spasms near his shoulder and neck and Carson Wentz still isn't participating in 11-on-11 drills for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Foles' injury isn't considered serious, but it's uncertain whether the Super Bowl MVP will play in the preseason opener Thursday night against Pittsburgh. Wentz is coming back from surgery to repair a torn ACL and LCL in his left knee.
Cavs acquire Dekker from Clippers
The Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired forward Sam Dekker in a trade with the Los Angeles Clippers.
Dekker, a first-round pick by Houston in 2015 out of Wisconsin, averaged 4.2 points and 2.4 rebounds as a reserve in 73 games last season for the Clippers.
US overpowers South Africa at softball worlds
Kristi Merritt and Sahvanna Jaquish homered as the United States beat South Africa 7-0 in five innings to remain undefeated at the women's softball world championship on Tuesday.
Rachel Garcia, former Oklahoma star Keilani Ricketts, and Kelly Barnhill combined to pitch a nohitter, with a total of 14 strikeouts as the United States improved to 6-0.
The winner of the tournament will be awarded an Olympic berth.
If Japan wins, the second-place finisher will be granted the Olympic spot because Japan has an automatic berth as host.
