Scouting ahead
This season: Mike Gundy continues to rave about the size of the Cowboys’ offensive line, as well as its depth that has seen a big boost under coach Josh Henson.
Gundy says he sees as many as 11 players who he’d be comfortable with in a game situation. And looking at the top seven, he feels the group has the potential to outperform last year’s group, which included three seniors. Wilson got experience at center and guard because of injuries last year. Williams was granted a sixth year of eligibility after having his season cut short a year ago and returns to his spot at right guard. Keyes has been the rock on the offensive line the last two seasons at left guard. At right tackle, Jenkins gained experience filling in for injured players last year, leaving the only entirely new starter at left guard, where Hambright and Galloway will battle it out through August.
The future: Henson has been impressive on the recruiting trail, pulling in a class of five talented players last winter. All five should be able to redshirt, because of the depth the group has built.
The Cowboys have four offensive line commitments in the 2019 class, and one on board already for 2020 in Plainview’s Eli Russ.
