Disqualifying behavior
It is my understanding that until this June, when his name was on the ballot, Kevin Stitt had not voted for governor since registering in Tulsa County in 1999. I attended a town hall meeting for him in Claremore on Aug. 14. When I asked him about it, he said, “Nothing really motivated me here in the state.”
Acknowledged by Stitt, we have failing schools, budget shortfalls, overflowing prisons. Nothing motivated him to vote? I was always told that if you don’t vote, you can’t gripe. Stitt’s neglect to vote even once disqualifies him from even asking for my vote.
Looking pretty good
With all the negative ads from the camps of Kevin Stitt and Mick Cornett, this longtime registered Republican thinks Drew Edmondson is looking pretty good as our next governor.

Unbecoming
Thomas Lynn, Claremore
If I needed another reason not to vote for Mike Cornett, his latest television ad (bull-Stitt) would surely do it. To say that this is unbecoming for a man who wishes to be governor is an understatement.
In Cornett’s corner
Anita G. Barrett, Enid
We joined the Women for Mick Coalition because it’s time to speak up. The coalition is more than 800 members strong and growing. We care about getting our state government’s fiscal house in order. We want a strong, growing, diversified economy so that our kids and grandkids will have opportunities that make them want to stay in Oklahoma. We believe improving education is vital to achieving this goal.
We see Mick Cornett as the candidate for governor who can deliver the results we need as a state. We have seen him balance budgets, diversify an economy and support our education system as mayor of Oklahoma City. He was president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors, endorsed President Trump’s candidacy from the stage of the National Republican Convention during the 2016 election and met personally with President Trump to discuss state issues. His achievements are nationally recognized as he was recently named to Fortune Magazine’s list of “The World’s 50 Greatest Leaders.”
We will vote for Mick Cornett on Tuesday and prayerfully hope you will, too.

Cornett fan
For the first time, we have an opportunity to elect a conservative governor who understands and supports local control. Mick Cornett knows firsthand that the strength of our great state relies heavily on the successes of our local governments that includes cities and towns, schools and counties. Although he speaks frequently (and rightfully so) about the successes of Oklahoma City, he has the capacity through his numerous contacts both nationally and internationally to bring economic development to Oklahoma. New businesses will be located in your municipalities and counties and their children will attend your local schools. This is a win-win for everyone!
A well-educated workforce is what will deliver businesses to our state. Mick’s mother was a school teacher with an amazing reputation and he lives what he says in that learning and education is a lifetime endeavor. Do your homework and vote for Cornett, who knows how to govern and is a proven leader.
