Shade secrets

Where to find celeb makeup details

- BY LINDA MILLER

Who among us hasn’t seen a celebrity on television or in a magazine and wanted to know what shade of lipstick or eye shadow she was wearing?

Or wondered what product she uses on her thick brows or shiny hair? Or what razor she reaches for to shave her legs? OK, let’s hope that’s an exaggeration.

But, seriously, women have been curious about beauty products used by their favorite stars for decades. Long before the Kardashian

and Jenner gals took beauty fascination over the top, women wanted to re-create Marilyn Monroe’s famous red lips (her fave was Max Factor Ruby Red now called Ruby Tuesday) and Farrah Fawcett’s blonde tresses.

Fawcett’s hair style was so popular that in the late 1970s Faberge launched a line of hair care products infused with vitamins and minerals. Her image was on the bottles, and she appeared in television commercials with the tagline “something beautiful happens to your hair.”

Celebrities’ favorite beauty products garner even more interest these days, thanks to social media and artists who like to make up and share.

Here are a few familiar names and their go-to products.

• Sarah Jessica Parker said Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Color in Jungle is her favorite, and she wears it almost every day. She also likes the shades Khaki, Plum and Tuxedo. She has said she’s not really a products person, but she’s been using the same fragrance-free moisturizer, La Roche-Posay’s Toleriane Fluid, for years.

• Gina Rodriguez and Zosia Mamet are among the many celebrity fans who swear by Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. About one bottle is sold every minute.

• Meghan Markle, former star of the television series “Suits” and now Duchess of Sussex and wife to Prince Harry, has said she likes FRESH Sugar Lip Treatment Sunscreen SPF 15, Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray, NIVEA Skin Firming Hydration Body Lotion and Shu Uemura eyelash curler.

• Katherine Heigl, who recently joined

the “Suits” cast after the departure of Markle and Patrick J. James, said on her blog that her favorite skin care line is Eminence. Other faves are IT Cosmetics pressed powder, Fenty Beauty’s shimmer stick and Anastasia Beverly Hills brow pencil.

• Taylor Swift’s favorite red lipsticks really aren’t a secret. She has been wearing MAC Ruby Woo since she discovered it in 2009 and a more recent addition is Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Dragon Girl.

• Julia Roberts, named World’s Most Beautiful Woman five times by People magazine, said she swears by Lancome Absolue PC Day Cream, Lancome Bi-Facil eye makeup remover, Serge Normant Meta Morphosis Hair Repair Treatment and Shade SPF 40+ Opaque sunscreen, which she describes as magical. Roberts was named brand ambassador for Lancome in 2009.

• Olivia Wilde, who stars in “Life Itself” in theaters Sept 21, said she has been using Dr. Bronner’s Pure Castile Soap her whole life.

• Kendall Jenner, model and entrepreneur, credits sister Kim Kardashian-West for turning her on to Finesse shampoo, a drugstore cheapie.

• Kylie Jenner, cosmetics mogul, social media star with 110 million followers on Instagram and sister to Kendall, may have built a $900 million fortune in less than three years, but she doesn’t spend it all on expensive beauty products. Most of us can afford two of her favorites, Mario Badescu Drying Lotion and Kiehl’s Daily Reviving Concentrate.
