The Oklahoma City Dodgers open a fivegame series Friday at Colorado Springs which will decide the championship of the Pacific Coast League’s American Northern Division.
Oklahoma City salvaged the final game of a four-game series at Iowa on Thursday by defeating the Cubs, 4-2, at Principal Park.
The win also snapped a four-game losing streak which saw Colorado Springs overtaking the Dodgers for first place in the Pacific Coast League's American Northern division standings.
The Dodgers will begin a five-game season ending series at Colorado Springs on Friday which will decide the division championship.
On Thursday, the Cubs scored first before the Dodgers tied the game on an Andrew Toles' solo home run to lead off the fourth inning.
Oklahoma City added two more runs in the fourth inning on three hits and an error. Toles added a sacrifice fly in the seventh to increase the Dodgers lead to 4-1.
Dodgers starting pitcher Daniel Corcino allowed one run on three hits to earn his fourth win of the season. He struck out eight. Corcino (4-3) retired 16 of the last 18 batters he faced.
Iowa scored a run in the bottom of the seventh against reliever Manny
Bañuelos and had the bases loaded with no outs when Dodgers' reliever Zach McAllister entered the game. McAllister fanned the next three hitters to escape the bases-loaded jam.
McAllister retired the side in the eighth before Dodgers' closer Brian
Schlitter picked up his 21st save by tossing a scoreless ninth inning.
The Dodgers had 11 hits in the game, led by Rocky
Gale's three hits which included an RBI single in the three-run fourth.
