Tommy Emmanuel headlining Internatio­nal Bluegrass Festival

GUTHRIE — Esteemed Australian guitarist, songwriter and singer Tommy Emmanuel will headline the 22nd annual Oklahoma Internatio­nal Bluegrass Festival, set for Oct. 4-6 at the Guthrie festival grounds on Cottonwood Creek, State Highway 33 at U.S. 77.

Founded, organized and hosted by acclaimed Guthrie-based fiddler Byron Berline, whose band will perform several sets, the event showcases rootsy, acoustic American music, from traditiona­l bluegrass and cowboy songs to folk and Western swing.

This year’s lineup features 20 acts, including The Kruger Brothers, The Bluegrass Martins, Starkey & Clark, Choctaw Line, Red Dirt Rangers, Mountain Smoke, Cowboy Jim Garling and Steelwind.

In addition to Emmanuel, internatio­nal acts on this year’s bill include Japan’s Blueside of Lonesome and Canada’s April Verch Band.

Along with live music, the nonprofit festival will include camping, children’s activities, youth music contests and an Oct. 7 golf tournament that supports the festival’s endowment and scholarshi­p funds. Advance three-day passes are $76 when purchased before Sept. 15; three-day passes cost $86 at the gate.
