Rivalries continue and heavyweight matchups are in the spotlight.

Week 2 of the high school football season has it all, from battles between East powers and crosstown rivalries being rekindled. Even a Bedlam rivalry is born.

Here is a look at The Oklahoman’s top 10 games for Week 2:

1. Class 6A-I No. 2 Broken Arrow (2-0) at 6A-I No. 1 Owasso (1-1)

The top spot in the largest classification is up for grabs. Broken Arrow, arguably the most talented team in the state, is looking to do what Owasso did last year — clear a huge hurdle by winning the state championship.

The Tigers have been impressive in wins over Tulsa Union and Mansfield, Texas. Owasso has faced a grueling schedule of outof-state opponents. This should be electric.

2. Class 5A No. 1 Carl Albert (1-0) at Class 6A-II No. 7 Del City (1-0) Both are coming off dominant victories that bring a ton of momentum into the first matchup between the two teams since 2013. The Titans already took down one Mid-Del rival and are looking to take all of the city bragging rights.

3. Class 6A-I No. 3 Tulsa Union (1-1) at 6A-I No. 4 Jenks (2-0)

The annual rivalry game between the powers rarely disappoints, and this year there may be even more pressure on Jenks to make a statement under first-year coach Keith Riggs.

4. Class 3A No. 1 Heritage Hall (0-1) at Class 4A unranked Clinton (1-0) The Chargers are coming off an emotional loss to Millwood, but they can’t slow down facing traditionrich Clinton under first-year coach John Higbee.

5. Class 3A No. 4 Lincoln Christian (2-0) at Class 2A No. Vian (1-0)

Two of the state’s most prolific small-school offenses collide in a battle between teams looking to prove they are title contenders in their respective class. 6. Class 4A No. 5 Tuttle (2-0) at Class 3A No. 2 Plainview (2-0)

Both teams are off to fast starts with two wins apiece and feature stars in Tuttle quarterback Carson Berryhill and Plainview lineman Eli Russ, an Oklahoma State commit.

7. Class 6A-I No. 8 Mustang (0-1) at 6A-I No. 5 Edmond Santa Fe (1-0)

Edmond Santa Fe is coming off a nice Edlam win, while Mustang is coming off a loss to rival Yukon. This is a game that could serve as a measuring stick for the rest of the season.

8. Class 5A No. 5 McGuinness (0-1) at 5A No. 9 Tulsa Kelley (0-1)

The Battle of the Bishops is a long-standing rivalry that this year has added importance with both looking to rebound from tough Week 1 losses against Class 6A-II opponents. 9. Class 2A No. 9 Davis (1-0) at Class 3A No. 10 Sulphur (1-1)

The annual rivalry continues, this time with Davis’ powerful option attack against Sulphur’s powerful run game led by star Trey Kiser.

10. Class 6A-II No. 3 Stillwater (1-0) at Class 6A-I unranked Norman North (0-1), Thursday

Stillwater’s offense rolled last week, while Norman North’s did not. But the real story is the quarterback battle. Stillwater’s Gunnar Gundy faces Norman North’s Jacob Switzer. The son of Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy against the grandson of Oklahoma legendary coach Barry Switzer.

Note: All games Friday, unless noted.
