Los Angeles, OKC extend baseball affiliation through 2020
The Oklahoma City Dodgers and Los Angeles Dodgers will remain partners for at least two more seasons.
The Player Development Contract was extended through the 2020 season on Wednesday, keeping OKC as the team’s Triple-A affiliate.
It’s no surprise with Mandalay Baseball LLC owning the OKC franchise. Mandalay Baseball LLC is a partnership that includes the ownership of the Los Angeles Dodgers. The partnership was named owners of the OKC franchise in 2014 and immediately made it the Dodgers’ affiliate.
“Being part of the
Los Angeles Dodgers’
organization and family throughout the last four years has been incredible,” OKC Dodgers president and general manager Michael Byrnes said in a release. “There’s been an impressive string of on-field success in Oklahoma City and beyond,
and the great fans of our city and state now bleed blue.”
OKC has been highly successful in the four-year affiliation, winning the Pacific Coast League’s American Northern Division three times, including this season. Two National League Rookie of the Year Award winners — Corey Seager and Cody Bellinger — have also played for OKC in that span.
“Oklahoma City has been a great home to our players and we’re excited to extend our partnership with Mandalay Baseball and the OKC Dodgers’ organization,” Los Angeles Dodgers president and CEO Stan Kasten said in a release. “It’s been a fantastic partnership, and we’re grateful for the community support we’ve received in our four seasons in Oklahoma City.”
