Union Pacific awards grants to nonprofits
A dozen Oklahoma nonprofits received $83,000 from Union Pacific’s Community Ties Giving Program.
Local grants provide small and medium-sized grants within the railroad’s priority cause areas: Safety, Workforce Development and Community Spaces. A small portion of funding is allocated to other local community needs.
In Oklahoma, the grants went to Duncan Little Theatre Inc.; Canadian County Historical Society in El Reno; 4RKids and Railroad Museum of Oklahoma Inc. in Enid; Association Of The Friends Of The
Wichitas in Lawton; Pride in McAlester Inc.; Neighbors Building Neighborhoods Inc. in Muskogee; Oklahoma Railway Museum Limited, Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma and Science Museum Oklahoma Inc. in Oklahoma City; Oklahoma State University Foundation in Stillwater; and Tulsa Children’s Museum.
Union Pacific awarded nearly $5.9 million in 2018 local grants to roughly 600 nonprofit organizations throughout its 23-state system.
“Union Pacific’s success is linked to communities where we operate, and we proudly support organizations that improve the quality of life where our employees live and work,” said Scott Moore, senior vice president and chief administrative officer, and Union Pacific Foundation
president. “Investing in high-quality nonprofits and programs helps achieve our mission of building safe, prosperous and vibrant communities.”
