PLAYERS OF THE WEEK Softball
Boys Cross Country
Granger Zossima, Oklahoma City Knights
A member of a homeschool team, Zossima took home first place honors at the Western Oklahoma Showcase at Weatherford this past weekend. Zossima finished with a time of 17:07.17 to take the top spot, nearly 15 seconds faster than second place.
Girls Cross Country
Aubrey Byers, Deer Creek Facing a stacked field, Deer Creek sophomore Aubrey Byers proved up to the task.
Byers finished first overall at the Cottonwood Flats Invitational in Guthrie last week, racing to a time of 18:52.4 and helping Deer Creek finish first overall as a team. Micaela Harcrow, Mustang
Throughout the better part of the past two weeks, Mustang’s junior pitcher and utility player Micaela Harcrow has been red hot at the plate.
That’s led to good things for the defending Class 6A state champions, who are tied atop District 6A-1 awaiting a crucial series with Deer Creek later this month. Harcrow has paced the offense in her past 24 at-bats with 14 hits — a .583 average — two doubles, two triples and home run. She’s also driven in 12 runs.
Volleyball
Kaeli Robinson, Edmond Santa Fe The senior outside hitter took home most valuable player honors at the Heather Harkness Tournament, finishing the tournament with 55 kills and helping Edmond Santa Fe take home the win.
Edmond Santa Fe took down its rival Edmond North in four sets to win the tournament.
