Doris (Dotty) deVries Syba passed away peacefully on September 7th at the age of 97. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio in April 1921 and baptized in the Dutch Reform Church. When Dotty was at a young age, the family relocated to Oklahoma City and found a permanent home in the Episcopal Church. She graduated from Britton High School and earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Oklahoma A&M in Business Administra­tion and Accounting. In 1949, after World War II, Dotty moved to Europe to work for the War Department in Brussels, Belgium. She returned home in 1952 and continued to work for Department of Defense at Tinker Air Force Base where she was introduced to MSgt Charles Syba, USAF, through mutual friends. They married in 1953 and the following year started their family, subsequent­ly having three daughters: Niki, Robin and Erika. Dotty retired from Tinker Air Force Base in 1986 as a Financial Analyst. After retirement she briefly worked for a Defense Contractor and then H&R Block as an office manager until 2006. In addition, Dotty was actively involved with Mobile Meals at St. Paul’s Cathedral from 1986 to 2015. She is survived by 3 daughters: Niki Moman and husband Billy, Robin Syba, Erika Syba and husband Paul Barrett; 5 grandchild­ren: Travis Moman and wife Meredith, Brant Moman and wife Mindy, Nicolaas Garrison and wife Paige, Natalie Barrett and Wesley Barrett; and 3 great-grandchild­ren: Jaxon Moman, Dylan Moman and Christian Moman. The family would like to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Asim Chohan, Dr. Shoab Nazir and Dr. Keith Gannaway; very special physicians who cared for our mother and, through God, gave us many more years with her. The funeral will be at St. Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral (127 N.W. 7th St., OKC, OK 73102) at 11:00AM on Monday, September 17th. The family asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to St. Paul’s Cathedral marked for Mobile Meals.
