A Midwest City man said he killed his wife with a baseball bat after she nagged him about money, police reported.

Gary Don Griffin, 58, was charged Friday in Oklahoma County District Court with first-degree murder in the Sept. 8 death of Cynthia Ann Griffin, 53.

Gary Griffin was arrested Sunday in Kansas. He told troopers he was heading to Colorado to "start over," according to a court affidavit.

When interviewed Tuesday by police, Griffin said he struck his wife in the back of the head with the bat.

A person was taken to a local hospital after being shot Friday in northwest Oklahoma City, police said.

Officers responded about 12:15 p.m. after several people reported the shooting in the 12500 block of Abbotts Way. The victim, whose name was not released, was found with a gunshot wound in the front yard of a home.

He was taken to a local hospital but his condition was not released.

A 53-year-old Oklahoma City man was arrested Thursday after police said he threatened to blow up a woman’s home after she refused to send him sexually graphic photos.

About 11:35 p.m. Wednesday, police received a call from a woman about a man threatening her. An officer spoke to the woman who said she had previously met Kenneth Lamonte Lee, also known as Kim Lee, at a Walgreens in northwest Oklahoma City, according to a police report.

The woman told investigators her car was broken down outside the store and Lee approached her. She said they exchanged telephone numbers and Lee gave her $20. On Wednesday, Lee texted the woman and asked her to send nude photos, but she declined.

She said Lee became angry and sent several threatening text messages, including one saying he was going to blow up her building and that she should “make sure the children weren’t there” and “the police couldn’t do anything.” He also demanded his $20 back, according to the report.

About 4:15 p.m. Thursday, police met with Lee at a home in the 800 block of NE 28. He was arrested after being questioned and booked into the Oklahoma County jail.

He is being held in the jail in lieu of $15,000 bail on complaints of threatening to perform an act of violence, making a bomb threat or conveying information known to be false and driving under the influence stemming from a previous incident.

Lee has previously served prison time in Oklahoma on a number of convictions, including sexual battery, forcible sodomy and crimes against nature/sodomy, Oklahoma Department of Corrections records show.

A judge has ordered that a vicious dog should be put down after it attacked and killed a woman's pet dog in August.

A dog named Albert, owned by Leslie Spears, was killed Aug. 29 when a neighboring dog got out of a fence and attacked him. Spears took Albert to a veterinarian and has a $4,000 bill for surgery, but Albert didn't survive.

At a hearing in municipal court Thursday in The Village, Judge Daniel White ordered the vicious dog be put down. A city court clerk said the owner of the dog, Brandon Stempf, who lives on Sunnymeade Avenue, has 10 days to appeal the decision in Oklahoma County District Court.

Spears said Friday she is satisfied that the vicious dog will not be able to hurt other pets or people, although the decision "won't bring Albert back."

Man convicted in daughter's drowning death

A jury has convicted a man of first-degree murder in the drowning of his 21-month-old daughter in southeastern Oklahoma.

The McAlester News Capital reported the Pittsburg County jury deliberated about five hours Thursday before finding 23-year-old Devin Sizemore, of Krebs, guilty in the July 2016 death of Emily Sizemore.

Police testified they found the girl floating face down in a pond with Sizemore nearby after searching for the two much of the previous day. Police say after the girl's body was recovered, Sizemore ran into the water and fought with officers who were arresting him.

Defense attorneys said the girl went into the pond on her own after Sizemore left her alone while he went to get a horse.

The jury recommended a sentence of life in prison without parole.
