Students to design community green
BARTLESVILLE — Price Tower and Bartlesville Community Center will play host to 13 students and faculty of the School of Architecture at Taliesin, formerly the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture, through Tuesday to help design a community green connecting the two.
Price Tower is the only realized skyscraper designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The Bartlesville Community Center was designed by William Wesley Peters, Wright’s protege and son-in-law. Wright’s school of architecture was called the Taliesin Fellowship.
Price Tower and Bartlesville Community Center said it is fitting that Taliesin students help marry the two structures. They will attend Indian Summer, an American Indian festival, held on ground that will become The Community Green. They will immerse themselves in the festival, interview participants, and study how the space might function.
Following a public design charrette Monday and Tuesday and behind-the-scenes work, the students will present their design ideas. For a schedule of events and other details, go to www.pricetower.org.
