A popular conference for young adults helped launch a separate ministry showcasing the music that transcends the gatherings.

This fall, the latest round of “Passion Worship Nights” is making its way to communities across the country, including Oklahoma City.

The worship night experience will be Oct. 11 at Crossings Community Church and include music from Passion, a contemporary Christian band that includes Brett Younker, Kristian Stanfill and Melodie Malone, plus teaching from Louie Giglio, senior pastor of Passion City Church in Atlanta and founder of the Passion movement.

Contemporary Christian recording artist Travis Greene also will perform.

Passion has won four Dove Awards and the group has had eight albums debut at No. 1 on Billboard’s Christian Albums Chart, with three hitting the Top 5 on the Billboard 200. Some of the band’s popular singles include “God Of This City,” “How Great Is Our God,” “One Thing Remains,” “Even So Come,” and “10,000 Reasons (Bless the Lord).”

Recently, Younker, 34, talked about the Passion movement begun by Giglio at the church where the worship leader and songwriter attends with his wife Aynsley and their three children.

The award-winning recording artist share details about the Passion movement and why Passion Worship Night experiences continue to draw crowds year after year.

Q: What are the Passion Worship Nights all about? What can fans expect?

A: It’s more than a concert. It’s everybody being on this journey.

This fall, there’s stuff that’s freaking us out. All the things that are happening in the world today. Fear and anxiety are kind of all around us.

But faith is greater than fear. There’s one thing in this world you can put your faith in and that’s Jesus.

We’ll sing together and it will be a night where faith is greater than fear. Our pastor Louie Giglio will be there. He’s one of the best men on planet Earth.

Q:Let’s talk about Passion’s newest collection of songs “The Anthem: Whole Heart.” I understand it was recorded live?

A: Yes, it was recorded live at our conferences. It’s a lot of where our roots are. We’ve been gathering college students for the Passion Conferences for the past 20 years.

Over the years, we kind of gleaned that God has given us a message to share and that is what “Whole Heart” is about.

Q:Can you talk about some of the songs on “Whole Heart”? There’s “God, You’re So Good,” “More Like Jesus,” “Reckless Love” and “Almighty God.” Can you talk about one that really resonated with fans?

A: “God, You’re So Good” is one of those songs. It has a really simple chorus: “God, You’re so good, Oh God, You’re so good, God, You’re so good, You’re so good to me.” It’s really powerful to hear people sing this.

Q: What is your favorite part of the worship nights?

A: The moment where the light bulb comes on for people — when they really see how great Jesus is. We’re really looking forward to coming out on tour this fall. I would just say bring a friend.
