Noble Research Institute plans two events in Ardmore
ARDMORE — The Noble Research Institute will host two Oct. 4 events.
The first, a session about ways to control feral hogs, is planned for 8 a.m. to noon at the institute’s pavilion in Ardmore.
Officials said the session will give landowners and hunters a chance to see the tools available to manage feral hogs and to hear about best management practices and strategies from institute consultants and specialists.
“Feral hogs are a tremendous problem in the United States,” Josh Gaskamp, a wildlife and range consultant for the institute, said in a release.
“This invasive species is causing serious problems for agricultural producers and many others. They compete with native wildlife and damage pastures and crops, creating a need for effective control methods.”
The second event — a celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Noble Foundation’s Profiles and Perspectives Community Enrichment Series — is planned for 7 p.m. at the Ardmore Convention Center and will feature popular political pundits Burns Hargis and Mike Turpen, former co-hosts of “Flash Point.”
Organizers said Turpen and Hargis, who is Oklahoma State University’s president, have agreed to reunite to present “Infotainment: Enough Sense to be Informative, Enough Nonsense to be Entertaining” before the midterm elections.
“We couldn’t celebrate our 20th anniversary without bringing back this famous team,” J. Adam Calaway, Noble Research Institute’s director of communications, public relations and chair of the Profiles and Perspectives committee, stated in a news release.
“Their humorous interaction and frank analysis bring the fun back to politics. They are sure to provide our audiences with more than a few laughs as well as a unique perspective on the issues.”
The pavilion is on the institute’s campus at 2510 Sam Noble Parkway in Ardmore. The convention center is at 2401 N Rockford Road.
There’s no cost to attend either event, though preregistration is requested for the workshop on feral hogs. Go online to noble. org/events to register for that event and other training opportunities, officials said.
