Deer Creek softball’s offense has really taken off this week.

Through two games, the Antlers have scored 33 runs, routing both Edmond Memorial and Southmoore to move to 18-3 on the season.

But Tuesday’s 17-7 win against Southmoore may have been the most impressive.

Terin Ritz hit three home runs and drove in seven runs. Hailey Evans was also 4 for 5 with a homer and six RBI.

Deer Creek plays Putnam West on Thursday in a district game before playing in this weekend’s Edmond tournament.

Cross country teams plan to head to Arkansas

Cross Country teams from across the state of Oklahoma will head to Arkansas this weekend to see how they fare nationally.

The 26th annual Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival will take place this weekend in Fayetteville, as more than 120 high school teams from across the country fight it out to see who's the best.

Norman is just one of several teams from the metro area heading to the event. Coach Scott Monnard said his team likes going to see how they stack up against teams from other states.

"It's a really good bonding trip for us," he said. "Plus they kids get a chance to watch some of the college runners and get a feel for that."

Edmond Santa Fe volleyball on a tear

The defending state champs look to be hitting their stride.

Edmond Santa Fe (20-2) defeated Moore 3-0 on Tuesday, earning the team its 11th straight victory. In that stretch, the Class 6A Wolves have defeated rivals Edmond North and Edmond Memorial twice, as well as other Class 5A contenders in Bishop McGuinness and Tulsa Kelley.

Senior Kaeli Robinson has notched more than 250 kills on the year so far while junior Rorianna Chartier has 358 digs and senior Rylen Moore has 354 assists.

Carl Albert’s run game takes shape

Former Carl Albert coach Gary Rose always believed it took five or six weeks for an offensive line to really click.

Through three games, current Carl Albert coach Mike Corley is starting to see huge growth up front. During Friday night’s 47-7 rout of Shawnee, the Titans’ offensive line clicked and the run game was dominant.

Carl Albert racked up 360 yards on 36 carries, a huge improvement after rushing for just 21 yards a week before against Del City. And this happened with star running back Dadrion Taylor still sidelined with a knee injury.

“We were pleased to see that,” Corley said. “I think the line each week is getting better also and starting to find their stride.”

Senior DeJuana Mcarthur rushed for four touchdowns.

“He’s tougher than nails,” Corley said. “He doesn’t look like a Greek god as far as being real big and strong, but he’s a solid dude and he’s tough, tough, tough both mentally and as a hard runner.”

Sophomore Javion Hunt also scored once on the ground. He is the son of former Carl Albert and Oklahoma star Jay Hunt.

Tecumseh dominates Bridge Creek

Led by a huge offensive outburst and big defensive night from Tyler Bingham, Tecumseh routed Bridge Creek 59-7 to close out nondistrict play last week.

Tecumseh (2-1) ran for 444 yards and passed for 92 in the rout.

Quarterback Will Hilton was 9 for 11 with three touchdowns, two to Dylan Morris and one to Jake Trice. Micah Boyce ran for 98 yards, while Jaylen Walker ran for 102 and two TDs. Raymond Thomas added two TDs on the ground.

Bingham was huge on the other end with 10 tackles, including three for a loss. He also had two sacks, a forced fumble and a recovery. He also blocked a punt.
