Receiver LC Greenwood nearing return

-

Through three games, OSU has relied heavily on its four primary receivers, but help could be on the way.

Redshirt freshman LC Greenwood is nearing a return to action after dealing with “nagging injuries” Quarterback Mason Fine, a Locust Grove product, has led North Texas to a 3-0 start. Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said Fine’s 5-foot-11 height likely led to him being overlooked in recruiting.

for the past month, Gundy said earlier this week.

“Last week, he really just kinda showed signs of practicing full speed,” Gundy said. “He’s gotta start to show up and give us a little bit there, but when they don’t practice during the

week, it’s difficult to put ’em in the game.”

Tyron Johnson, Tylan Wallace, Jalen McCleskey and Dillon Stoner have made 91 percent of OSU’s catches by receivers. Tracin Wallace, Tylan’s twin brother, needs surgery for

a knee injury, while Patrick McKaufman is out for the season with an ACL tear. With Greenwood missing the season’s first three games, Landon Wolf is OSU’s only second-team receiver with multiple catches.

Cowboys seeking third double-digit series winning streak

An OSU victory over Texas Tech wouldn’t be considered a rarity given the series’ recent history, but the Cowboys winning Saturday’s matchup would establish a decade of dominance the program hasn’t seen in almost 60 years.

OSU has won nine straight games against the Red Raiders, so a victory Saturday would give the Cowboys their third double-digit winning streak against a given opponent. OSU beat Kansas State 11 straight times from 1947-62, and the program’s only other 10-game winning streak over one opponent came from 1908-1922 against Central Oklahoma.

Should the Cowboys fail to win and extend their streak against Texas Tech, they could have a shot at 10-game winning streak as soon as next season. OSU has won eight in a row against Kansas, its opponent next week.
