COLLECTIVE EXPANSION
Revised plans delay opening of former service station
Opening for The Collective, a food hall being built in a once-blighted service station in Midtown, will be delayed until this winter as the project is expanded to include extra kitchens, a bar and coffee shop.
Northline Development partner Kayla Baker said the upstairs dining and bar area under construction atop the decades-old service station at 308 NW 10 will be expanded to accommodate interest in a mix of pop-up restaurants to be located across from Bleu Garten.
Baker said the expanded development includes a rooftop deck with seating for 80 people.
“We had a ton of great applicants, so we decided to remove our event space and add four extra kitchens,” Baker said. “There will now be a total of 11 full kitchens, two bars and a coffee shop. Because of these additions and the expansion of the rooftop patio and bar, we are now expecting an early 2019 grand opening.”
The Collective represents an evolution of plans for the one-time service station. The three
adjoining buildings date to 1923, and the property once was home to a Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealership.
But the building was boarded up for more than 20 years, filled with junk and surrounded by abandoned
vehicles until it was purchased last year by Northline Development.
Northline Development cleared out the junk, restored the windows and doors, added a fresh coat of paint and then paused. The project initially was planned to become home to a restaurant.
Contractor Modus Construction recently replaced the roof, and work can be seen where the rooftop deck is being added.
