3-2-1 KICKOFF

- SCOTT WRIGHT, STAFF WRITER

Here’s a look at some keys to keep an eye on when Oklahoma State faces Kansas at 11 a.m. Saturday:

3 Players to Watch

Taylor Cornelius: All eyes will be on Cornelius every week to see if he’s going to be the quarterback who led OSU past Boise State, or the one who was 18-of-38 against Texas Tech.

Landon Wolf: With Jalen McCleskey gone, and Dillon Stoner battling injury, Wolf could play a major role as a slot receiver.

Justin Phillips: Kansas running back Pooka Williams is the focus of its offense, and Phillips has been one of OSU’s most reliable players in stopping the run.

2 Big Questions

Will Tylan Wallace begin to attract more attention from opposing secondaries? Kansas defensive coordinator Clint Bowen is a defensive backs coach, so you know his game planning will involve ways to contain OSU’s most impactful receiver. Will the OSU offensive line show noticeable

improvement? Coach Mike Gundy admitted earlier this week that there aren’t major changes or quick fixes for the offensive line’s struggles. But the group needs to show some steps toward getting better.

1 Wild Prediction

Justice Hill will have 20 touches by halftime. Two things the Cowboys need to do early in this game are to get their star running back more involved in the offense, and exert their dominance over a lesser team. In this case, those things go hand-in-hand.

Of course, getting the ball to Hill will still be done within the flow of the offensive decision-making based on what Kansas is doing. But offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich will find ways to get his best player involved.
