Tebow to be inducted into Ring of Honor
Tim Tebow has a bronze statue outside Florida Field and his most memorable quote emblazoned on a plaque a couple hundred feet away. His All-American brick rests nearby, too.
On Saturday, the Gators will honor their most famous quarterback one more time.
Florida will induct Tebow into the program's Ring of Honor, making him the sixth player with his name prominently and permanently displayed inside the Swamp.
The 2007 Heisman Trophy winner and two-time national champion finished his college career with 9,285 yards and 88 touchdowns passing to go along with 2,947 yards and an SECrecord 57 scores rushing.
King has hand in 5 TDs, leads Houston past Tulsa 41-26
HOUSTON — D’Eriq King threw for three touchdowns and ran for two scores, helping Houston beat Tulsa 41-26 on Thursday night.
Houston, trailing 26-17 early in the fourth quarter, scored 17 points in 91 seconds — during a 24-0 spurt. Dalton Witherspoon kicked a go-ahead, 27-26, field goal with 7:51 to go and the Cougars led by 15 points seven plays later.
Houst Emeke Egbule recovered a fumble, leading to Romello Brooker’s 9-yard touchdown catch for a 34-26 lead. Tulsa’s next offensive play ended in Deontay Anderson’s interception and Marquez Stevenson scored on a 6-yard grab.
King had 165 yards passing, with two interceptions, and 117 yards rushing for Houston (4-1, 1-0 American Athletic Conference). The Cougars, the nation’s leader in total offense at 608.5 yards per game, turned it over three times and gained 477 total yards.
Freshman Seth Boomer made his first start for Tulsa (1-4, 0-2), replacing four-game starter Luke Skipper. Boomer passed for 227 yards with one touchdown and one interception.
Former Clemson running back dies
C.J. Fuller, the former Clemson running back part of the Tigers' 2016 national championship team, has died. He was 22.
The school confirmed Fuller's death, and Clemson coach Dabo Swinney said Wednesday night his thoughts were with Fuller's family.
There was no immediate cause of death. Messages left at the Pickens County Coroner's Office were not returned.
Fuller played at Clemson from 2015-2017 after redshirting his first season. He rushed for 599 yards and four touchdowns.
Fuller was on three straight Atlantic Coast Conference title teams that made the College Football Playoffs. He had a 30-yard TD catch in a 31-0 Fiesta Bowl win over Ohio State. A week later, Fuller's 20-yard kickoff return started Clemson's gamewinning drive in a 35-31 win over Alabama for the championship.
Badgers' player out for season
Starting tight end Zander Neuville will likely miss the rest the season for No. 16 Wisconsin because of a left knee injury.
Coach Paul Chryst announced the injury on Thursday after the Badgers (3-1, 1-0 Big Ten) wrapped up their last practice before facing Nebraska on Saturday night.
Neuville hurt his right knee late last season, knocking him out for the Big Ten title game and the Orange Bowl. The senior missed this season's opener before playing the next three games.
