BETHANY — Tuttle quarterback Carson Berryhill was ready to play Bethany this year.

He didn’t have any more appendixes to lose.

The senior quarterback accounted for all four of Tuttle’s touchdowns as the Tigers ran over Bethany on Friday night 30-7 in a matchup of undefeated District 4A-2 teams.

Last season, Berryhill was forced to miss the matchup with Bronchos after emergency appendectomy surgery left him sidelined.

“I wanted a piece of them this year,” Berryhill said. “I just wanted to beat them so bad.”

Tuttle (6-0) racked up yards on the ground, rushing for 275 yards as a team and picking up 17 first downs.

Berryhill connected with running back Grant Polson for Tuttle’s first score of the night, an 8-yard touchdown pass that capped off a 13-play,

73-yard drive.

Berryhill added a oneyard touchdown run as time was running out in the first half, punching it across the goal line with 1.6 seconds to play before the horn sounded.

Ball control was the key for Tuttle as they continually milked the clock with a power run game.

“We just wanted to come out here and do what Tuttle teams do best,” Berryhill said. “Run the football and take what they give us and don’t let up.”

Junior running back Triston Truelove led the way on the ground for Tuttle, carrying the ball 29 times for 182 yards.

“I wouldn’t have been able to do it without the offensive line,” Truelove said.

“They beat us last year so we were coming for redemption.”

Bethany (5-1) got on the board first in the second half as quarterback Sam Brandt scored on a 9-yard touchdown run to make the score 14-7 midway through the third quarter.

Brandt finished 8-of15 for 74 yards, while adding 25 yards on the ground and the one touchdown.

Tuttle answered quickly as Berryhill reeled off a 45-yard run to the Bethany 2 and followed that with a power run up the middle.

Truelove took Bethany down the field later in the fourth quarter and Berryhill capped it off with his second touchdown pass, this time to senior receiver Coby Trevino.

On the night, Berryhill finished 6-of-11 passing for 68 yards and two touchdowns, while rushing it 11 times for 75 yards and two more scores.
