Antioch students plan volunteer park project

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

Antioch Christian Academy of southwest Oklahoma City has announced its 2018 community service project to serve the city of Moore’s Buck Thomas Park, 1903 NE 12.

On Nov. 2, The Colts’ Project will include more than 300 volunteers composed of Antioch Christian Academy students, parents, faculty and administration.

Volunteers will devote a full day of community service to the 129-acre Moore park complex. The day of service will consist of painting, planting, building, restoring, cleaning and developing the complex for the Moore community.

“The Colts’ Project teaches our children the importance of serving our community while also raising funds to enhance educational programs for the school,” headmaster Ron Yocum said.

The Colts’ Project will donate 10 percent of all funds raised to HIS Purpose Foundation for Rye Haller.

Rye is one of Antioch Christian Academy’s students, and his mother teaches Spanish for the school.

Rye suffered an accident and has been in New Orleans undergoing treatments, a news release stated. He has recently returned home and is continuing treatment.
