Arts conference registrati­on is due

The 2018 Oklahoma Arts Conference will be Oct. 24-25 in Oklahoma City’s Film Row district.

Organized by the Oklahoma Arts Council (OAC) in partnershi­p with Oklahomans for the Arts, the two-day event will feature sessions led by nationally recognized leaders in the arts, as well as dozens of Oklahoma presenters and panelists.

Artists, nonprofit administra­tors, community developers, civic leaders, educators, students and more attend the conference each year.

Offering profession­al developmen­t and networking opportunit­ies, the 2018 conference will include sessions led by Janet Brown, retired president and CEO of Grantmaker­s in the Arts; Arlene Goldbard, writer, speaker and consultant; Margie J. Reese, executive director of the Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture; and Naomi Schliesman and Jun-Li Wang, of Minnesota-based Springboar­d for the Arts.

Oklahoma City’s 21c Museum Hotel will serve as the center of 2018 conference activity.

Sessions will take place at the hotel and in spaces throughout Film Row.

Gov. Mary Fallin and Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt will welcome guests to the conference during a luncheon session at the Historic Oklahoma Farmers Public Market.

A keynote panel discussion led by singersong­writer and recording artist Graham Colton will feature Alice Stites, chief curator for the national 21c Museum Hotel brand, and Fred Hall, chairman and CEO of Hall Capital whose efforts have spearheade­d redevelopm­ent of the West Village area adjacent to Film Row.

Two conference-related events being offered at no cost include a pre-conference traditiona­l arts forum on Oct. 23, and a post-conference Oklahoma Arts and Military Summit organized in partnershi­p with the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art on Oct. 26.

Cost for the conference is $159 per person. The deadline to register is Wednesday.
