Norman library gets set for annual fall book sale

- FROM STAFF REPORTS

NORMAN — More than 50,000 used books will be available during the upcoming annual fall book sale sponsored by the Friends of the Norman Library.

The largest of four sales sponsored by the Friends group will be held Friday through Monday at the Norman Public Library, 225 N Webster.

The sale will open Friday with a membersonly preview sale from 6 to 9 p.m. for members of the Friends organization. Membership forms are available in the library, or memberships and renewals may be bought in the lobby the day of the sale. Membership is $10 for individuals or $25 for families.

The regular book sale will continue from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Monday will be Bag Sale Day beginning at 3 p.m., although lines form before the opening.

A $5 bag will buy as many general sale items — books, movies, DVDs, CDs — as the bag will hold, and shoppers may buy as many bags as they wish. Children’s books will be included as part of the Bag Day Sale. Bag sale prices do not apply in the Collector’s Rooms, but items in those rooms will be half price.

After the public sale, qualified nonprofit organizations' libraries and educational institutions are invited to select items from the general sales room. Better books and collectibles are excluded. Prior arrangements and appointments must be made in advance. Interested organizations should contact the Friends of the Norman Library at 405-329-8380 or Kathleen Romero, Friends president, 2103883.

Proceeds from the book sale, along with Friends membership dues, are used to provide the library with funds for materials, equipment, books and special projects.
