Taking a look OU and OSU’s 2019 football schedules
The Oklahoma State football team announced its 2019 schedule Thursday morning. Here’s three things to know from the Cowboys’ upcoming slate.
Friday opener
The Cowboys have opened on a Thursday three of the past four seasons. Their 2019 season begins on a Friday, facing another OSU, Oregon State, on Aug. 30 in Corvallis. Playing on a day other than Saturday gives the Cowboys a better TV slot and more of the spotlight.
Traveling early
Three of the Cowboys’ first four games and four of their first six are on the road, including a Sept. 14 trip to Tulsa and the Sept. 21 Big 12 opener at Texas. Before OSU’s Oct. 19 homecoming game against Baylor, its only games in Stillwater are the home opener against FCS opponent McNeese State and Big 12 home opener against Kansas State.
Staying home late
The early road trips mean the Cowboys will get to spend all but one week in November in Stillwater. They host TCU on Nov. 2, Kansas on Nov. 16 and Oklahoma on Nov. 30, with an open date and a Nov. 23 visit to West Virginia mixed in.
