A special education teacher at Putnam City High School was arrested Monday after he was accused of sending sexual messages and nude photographs to a 14-year-old student.

On Friday, Putnam City Campus Police were notified about an allegation against Marcus Lorenzo Quinn, 38. A tip said Quinn had been talking with a female student about sex through Instagram and that they had sent nude photos to each other, according to a police report.

During an interview with the student on Friday, she said she and Quinn had been talking on Instagram since the spring and that it had become sexual in nature. She also said they had exchanged nude photos.

She told authorities that Quinn frequently talked about wanting to have sex with her “if she was only older” or “if he was only younger,” according to the report.

About 10:30 a.m. Monday, police met with Quinn about the allegations. He told investigators that he might have sent some messages that were sexual in nature, but that she had “instigated it.”

An officer reminded him that she was a juvenile and that he was the adult in the situation and Quinn said one time in the summer, while he had been drinking, “he got a little carried away” while talking with the student.

He told police that he tried blocking the student, but she kept talking with him. The student said she was the one who tried blocking Quinn, but he kept talking to her and would use “a different screen name each time,” according to the report.

Putnam City Schools officials said Quinn, who is listed as a special education teacher on the district’s website, has been placed on administrative leave.

Tuesday afternoon, Quinn was being held in lieu of $35,000 bail at the Oklahoma County jail on complaints of soliciting sexual conduct with a minor, obscene or indecent telephone conversations and lewd or indecent proposals to a child, online records show.
