EDMOND UCO to host Rx drug disposal
The University of Central Oklahoma will host a prescription drug disposal effort from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the north entrance of the UCO Wellness Center on the north side of campus.
UCO’s Health Promotion and Outreach encourages community members to drop off their unwanted, unused or expired prescription medications for safe, proper disposal. Participants can drive up to the north entrance of the Wellness Center and an event staff member will meet them at their car window to collect the medication. No syringes, inhalers or liquids will be accepted.
UCO’s health staff has partnered with the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, OU Physicians Clinic at UCO and Oklahoma Poison Control Center for the event. For more information, email healthpromotion@uco.edu.
OKLAHOMA CITY OC students plan national debt discussions
A group of Oklahoma Christian University students are highlighting the need to solve the nation’s federal debt crisis, which is now more than $20 trillion. Partnering with the national organization Up to Us, OC students are holding public events to educate students and the community about the many ways the growing national debt will harm current and future generations.
OC alumni and Oklahoma state Reps. Mike Osburn, R-Edmond, and Mike Sanders, R-Kingfisher, will speak at 11 a.m. Friday in Hardeman Auditorium as part of the effort. Voters who attend can send a message directly to their elected officials in Washington.
On Nov. 8. the group will celebrate My Two Cents Day, a national day organized by Up to Us to register more voter comments, which will be sent to elected officials according to ZIP code. More information about OC’s campaign is available at www. itsuptousOC.org.
Up to Us is a nonpartisan organization funded by both Republic and Democratic groups that encourages all voters to take a pledge asking elected officials to address the national debt problem.
PAWNEE Ranch to host Pawnee Bill Kids Corral
Pawnee Bill Ranch and Museum will host the Pawnee Bill Kids Corral for children ages 8 and younger from 10:30 a.m. to noon Nov. 3. Activities include a themed story time, snacks and arts and crafts.

The mansion is closed for stabilization work, but visitors can explore the other buildings on the grounds. Admission fees are being suspended while the mansion is closed.
