ACHIEVERS
Roger Harris, who is responsible for maintenance of the Cleveland County Fairgrounds, recently was recognized for going above and beyond to serve the residents of Cleveland County.
Cleveland County Commissioner Darry Stacy honored Harris during a Board of County Commissioners meeting.
On Sept. 26, Harris was dealing with pouring rain as he finished preparations for the county fair that would open the next day. Despite his heavy workload, when Harris heard a Cleveland County resident had run out of gas, Harris stopped what he was doing and came to the man’s aid.
Harris took his lunch break, got a gas can, went to the gas station to fill it, then came back and put gas in the man’s car, all on his own time. For compassionate service above and beyond the call of duty, the county commissioners recognized Harris for his exemplary behavior in serving the residents of Cleveland County.
