The state meet for Classes 5A and 6A is Saturday at Edmond Santa Fe High School.
Here are some local runners to watch:
Boys
Christian Arenivar, Santa Fe South: The junior was impressive once again, finishing second overall with a time 17:23.0 to help propel the Saints to a second-place finish in the 5A boys regional.
Steven Clark, Deer Creek: The senior has been right at the top of most races this year and leads a pack of Antler runners looking for the top spot on the podium. Clark took home second place at the Class 6A boys west regional meet, finishing with a time of 17:7.5
Blake Cope, Piedmont: Consistently on the podium this season, Cope was impressive again at the 5A boys regional, finishing third overall with a time 17:32.6 and helping the Wildcats win the regional championship.
Parker Jackson, Edmond North: The senior ran away from the field at the Class 6A boys east regional. He finished first with a time of 16:24.1.
Girls
Delanie Crawford, Piedmont: A first place finish helped the Piedmont girls take home the Class 5A girls west regional championship. Crawford finished in 20:50.2 to the earn the individual title.
Mercy Dement, Guthrie: The junior finished just seconds off the lead at the 5A girls regional, taking second place with a time of 21:09.7 and helping Guthrie finish in second place as a team.
Sophia Maag, Norman: After helping lead Norman to the Class 6A girls championship last year, Maag is back and looking for another spot on the podium. She finished first in the Class 6A girls west regional with a time of 19:38.9.
Maddie Medina, Edmond Memorial: The senior has been lights out all year, taking home first place in several races. Running in the east regional, Medina took home a second-place finish in Class 6A with a time of 19:07.4.
