Pilot sought to help search for missing man
MCLOUD — The daughter of a missing 75-year-old man is hoping someone with an airplane might be able to help search for her father who has not been seen in more than two weeks
Wesley Still Smoking was reported missing Oct. 11 and a Silver Alert was issued by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. His daughter, Edith Stillsmoking, of Lawton, thinks he drove his car to see his wife, Esther Stillsmoking, 75, at a Tulsa physical rehabilitation center.
The couple were in a wreck on Oct. 2 in Wewoka, and Esther Stillsmoking has been recovering from broken ribs and a broken ankle from that wreck, her daughter said.
Volunteers continued to search Sunday on roads that Wesley Still Smoking may have used to travel from McLoud to Tulsa, Edith Stillsmoking said.
Still Smoking is described as 6 feet 3 inches tall and weighs about 185 pounds. He spells his last name Still Smoking, with two words, although other family members use the last name Stillsmoking, his daughter said.
A police dispatcher in Pottawatomie County said the Silver Alert was still active Sunday for Still Smoking.
Edith Stillsmoking said anyone who can volunteer time in a private airplane or with drones could assist family members in the search
The route Still Smoking could have taken in his gray, 2014 Dodge Journey may have been along State Highway 102 between McLoud and Tulsa, Edith Stillsmoking said.
She said law officers from the Kickapoo Tribal police, McLoud and other agencies have assisted, but no trace has been found of her father.
Anyone with an airplane who wants to help family members search can call Edith Stillsmoking at 405481-3866.
