Myrna Joyce Coulter

Myrna Joyce Coulter graduated from this life to spend eternity with her Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, on Oct. 25, 2018, at the golden age of 88 in Naples, FL. Myrna was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Delbert Byrd Coulter, who, amazingly, passed away almost exactly a year ago to the day, on Oct. 26, 2017. Only God can arrange such things. After a one-year separation, Delbert and Myrna are reunited forever in the kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Myrna lived a rich life that was full of love, friendship and happy times. She had many joys that enriched her life such as singing and playing the piano, fishing, reading poetry and dancing. She loved watching old movies, "The Andy Griffith Show" and "The Golden Girls." Her favorite tenor was Andrea Bocelli and she loved to listen to him sing as only he can do. She loved Mexican food and eating barrels of clam chowder specially prepared for her by Lisa. Myrna lived in Florida during the last chapter of her life, happily spending her final days with her daughter, Lisa. Myrna was active in the Baptist Temple Church, of Oklahoma City. She loved to sing in the church choir and make a joyful noise with her tambourine. Delbert and Myrna raised their children in the church and to know the Lord. Myrna was active in Oklahoma veterans' affairs lobbying for legislation to benefit our wonderful veterans as Delbert, himself, was a WWII veteran and had been a prisoner of war in Nazi Germany after being shot down while on a combat mission in a B-24 Liberator. Their passion was to ensure that those who served were never forgotten. They were active in the Oklahoma Ex-POW organization. As a young lady, Myrna attended Classen High School in OKC. After graduating, she enrolled at Oklahoma City University. She married Fletcher Duane Haskin early in 1950, and her son, George Robert, was born Nov. of that year. A mere three months later, she became a widow when Duane died of kidney failure. Myrna and Delbert married on Dec. 21, 1951. Their daughter, Lisa, was born in 1953. She was a devoted wife and stay-at-home mother until 1965 when she went to work for JCPenney. In the following years, she worked for several retail companies. In 1980, she became a faithful blood donor and was a decorated member of "The Gallon Club" many times over. She also donated countless hours as a volunteer for the Sylvan N. Goldman Oklahoma Blood Institute and was recognized by Medical Director Ron Gilcher as one of the beloved "bag ladies," a nickname they acquired because they prepared bags for the staff to assist them in collecting the vital commodity, especially in catastrophic times such as the Oklahoma City bombing. Myrna is survived by her son, George and wife Deborah; daughter, Lisa and husband Mike; granddaughter, Erin Cox; nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces, and many friends. Viewing for Myrna will be on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 8701 N.W. Expressway. Life Celebration will be at Chapel Hill Funeral Home on Nov. 1, 2018, at 10:30 a.m., the Reverend Joe Sinko officiating. Graveside Service will immediately follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
