Crashes on state roads kill 5

Five people have died in crashes in the state, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.

Leanne M. Collier, 31, of Prague

Collier was pronounced dead at the scene of a crash about 10:15 p.m. Sunday on U.S. 62 in the eastbound lane about a mile east of Prague at County Road 3560 in Lincoln County.

Collier was driving east on U.S. 62 when her car went off the roadway and the car went into a pasture and hit small trees before landing in a creekbed. Collier did not wear a seat belt.

Kelly S. Bargas, 49, of Chouteau

Bargas died of injuries suffered in a motorcycle crash about 3:30 p.m. Sunday about 7 miles northeast of Salina in Mayes County.

Bargas was driving a motorcycle south on State Highway 82 when he tried to negotiate a curve and went off the roadway. He did not wear a helmet. He was taken from the scene to a Tulsa hospital where he died Sunday night, the patrol reported.

Unidentifi­ed person

A person died in a fiery crash in Le Flore County on Wednesday, the patrol reported. The name of the person has not been released.

The crash was about 1.5 miles west of Spiro on U.S. 59 about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday.

The patrol reported the driver of a sport utility vehicle was eastbound on U.S. 59 and swerved left of center and struck a sport utility vehicle head-on that was driven by Bethany Snell, 26, of Spiro. Snell was taken to a Tulsa hospital where she was treated for injuries.

Jeffery Muehring, 49, of Norman

Gregory Higgins Jr. of Mustang

Muehring was the driver of a vehicle that crashed about 11:05 a.m. Saturday at 60th Avenue SE south of E Lindsey Street, police reported. His passenger, Higgins, was also killed.

Muehring was driving south on 60th Avenue SE when he lost control and hit a tree, police reported.

Both Muehring and Higgins were wearing their seat belts.
