Grief workshops offered

Integris Hospice will offer three workshops on grieving during the holidays.

The workshops are free. All will cover the same material, so people who want to attend should sign up only once.

Rev. Bob Willis will discuss normal grief responses, myths about grief and healthy ways to express it. He was a hospice bereavemen­t coordinato­r for 17 years.

The sessions will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 13, Nov. 15 and Dec. 10 at the Integris Hospice administra­tive office, 5710 NW 130.

Medicare help is available

Counselors with the Oklahoma Insurance Department will offer help to seniors who want to review their Medicare benefits during open enrollment.

Seniors can choose between 28 prescripti­on drug plans and up to 30 Medicare Advantage plans, as well as traditiona­l Medicare. Plans change annually, so a plan that meets someone’s needs this year may not next year.

Open enrollment runs through Dec. 7. For assistance, call the department’s Medicare Assistance Program, 800-763-2828, or go to oid.ok.gov.

Suicide remembranc­e scheduled

The Grief Center in Tulsa will host a remembranc­e for those who have lost a loved one to suicide as part of Internatio­nal Survivors of Suicide Loss Day on Nov. 17.

Health Department maps apartments

The Oklahoma City-County Health Department has launched a map of smoke-free apartments at www.occhd.org/smokefreea­partments.

Users can click on the map for the names and addresses of complexes that don’t allow smoking. For more informatio­n, email HealthyLiv­ing@occhd. org.

Dental event seeks volunteers

Oklahoma Mission of Mercy is looking for volunteers interested in helping with its annual free dental clinic in February.

The clinic will be held Feb. 1-2 at the State Fair Park. Dentists, hygienists, assistants, dental technician­s and physicians, as are people without medical training who can help with language translatio­n and organizati­onal tasks.
