2020 CB Jalen Huff commits to Oklahoma Michigan wants revenge against Penn State

- STAFF AND WIRE REPORTS

Oklahoma’s 2019 football recruiting class isn’t quite set yet but Lincoln Riley is building the Sooners’ 2020 class.

On Friday, OU picked up a commitment from threestar 2020 cornerback Jalen Huff. Huff (6-foot-1, 169 pounds) announced his decision with a video on Twitter.

He’s from Buford, Georgia. Oklahoma currently has one Georgia native on its roster — running back Trey Sermon.

Huff’s other offers included Auburn, Oregon and Arizona State, among others. Huff is the fifth 2020 commit for the Sooners and the second defensive back. Two down, two to go. Fifth-ranked Michigan is on a revenge tour, according to defensive end Chase Winovich. The Wolverines have beaten two of the four Big Ten teams they lost to last season, leaving No. 14 Penn State and No. 10 Ohio State on their list.

“We’re halfway there,” Winovich said. “It’s more than just beating certain teams. It’s an attitude. It’s a grittiness. We’re done playing around.”

Michigan (7-0, 5-0 Big Ten) gets its shot against the Nittany Lions (6-2, 3-2 Big Ten) on Saturday at home and will have to wait until Nov. 24 for its last tour stop against the Buckeyes. Penn State beat the Wolverines 42-13 last year and tried to score even more points in the final seconds, a fact that has bothered Michigan for more than a year.

The points and yards (502) given up in that game were the most allowed in defensive coordinator Don Brown’s two-plus years at Michigan. And just in case Brown’s defensive players were not still stung by the rout, he showed them how the end of the game unfolded, with Miles Sanders taking a handoff from the Wolverines 6 in the closing seconds and getting stopped for a loss.

Kelly returns to Eugene with UCLA to face Oregon

Coach Chip Kelly won’t be strolling down memory lane on Saturday when UCLA pays a visit to Oregon.

“No, we’ve gotta focus on the team across the other sideline or we’ll go get beat,” Kelly said.

Boy, have things changed since he left Eugene.

The Ducks were riding high when Kelly bolted for the NFL. Oregon had just wrapped up the 2012 season in the Fiesta Bowl for its fourth straight BCS Bowl appearance.

Now in Kelly’s first season in Westwood, the Bruins (2-6, 2-3 Pac-12) sit at the bottom of the Pac-12 South standings but are still in the mix because no division team has separated itself by much. Oregon (5-3, 2-3) has struggled with two straight losses. The latest was a 44-15 drubbing on the road in Arizona. UCLA is coming off a 41-10 loss at the Rose Bowl to Utah.
