COWBOYS’ 3-2-1 KICKOFF

- SCOTT WRIGHT, STAFF WRITER

3 Players to Watch

Justin Phillips: OSU’s middle linebacker will be at the heart of the action, whether he’s using his speed to pursue Kyler Murray, or his muscle against Trey Sermon.

A.J. Green: The cornerback’s play has been up-anddown lately, but OSU needs him to be strong.

OSU left tackle: Depending on the health of various players, the always critical left tackle spot could be manned by Arlington Hambright, Teven Jenkins or Dylan Galloway.

2 Big Questions

Can the defense get enough stops to keep the Cowboys in the game? OSU is allowing 29.9 points per game and OU is scoring almost 50. Any stop by the OSU defense is a victory.

Can the Cowboys run the ball? Run defense has been one of the Sooners’ strengths, allowing 144.1 yards per game, while OSU is averaging 200.1 yards from its ground attack. The Cowboy offense always flows better when the run game is productive.

1 Wild Prediction

A player other than Taylor Cornelius will throw a touchdown pass. Will it be a backup quarterback? Will it be a receiver or someone else? It’s Bedlam. Anything can happen. The Cowboys revealed some wrinkles in the offense against Texas two weeks ago, and have trotted out their share of trick plays this season. Expect some creativity and new looks from the Cowboy offense.
