Oklahoma State men’s basketball beat Charleston, and Oklahoma defeated Wofford on Sunday.

STILLWATER — Michael Weathers sat in the interview room adjacent to Oklahoma State’s Heritage Hall, a wide smile continually flashing as he faced media Sunday for the first time since his two-month suspension ended.

The redshirt sophomore guard had just paced the OSU basketball team to a 70-58 victory over Charleston, scoring 16 points in his second game in two seasons and providing energetic plays at both ends of the floor. It was a position he, at times, questioned he would be in.

On Sept. 9, Weathers stole a woman’s wallet at a Stillwater bar and was subsequently suspended from team activities. He pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of knowingly concealing stolen property Nov. 6 and rejoined the Cowboys later that week, having not practiced with the team since his arrest.

“I really didn’t think I was gonna play this year,” Weathers said. “But I’m just glad the administration gave me a second chance and the coaches gave me a second chance.”

Weathers played the final three minutes of Wednesday’s victory against UTSA, his first official game action since March 2017 after sitting out last season because of his transfer from Miami (Ohio). A forceful dunk showed his potential impact for the Cowboys (2-1), but he put in on full display Sunday.
