Sooners decimated by injuries, Riley says
Lincoln Riley rarely offers information about injuries. And while he stopped short of giving specific updates Saturday night after Oklahoma's 55-40 win against Kansas, Riley made it clear that his Sooners are far from full health.
"I can’t even begin to tell you all the guys we had out today," Riley said.
"This was the most decimated team by injuries, this game right here today, in any of my four years at Oklahoma.
"But who cares? This is the end of the season. This is part of it. If you’re going to win championships like we expect to win around here you’ve got to find a way around it."
There have been several players who have suffered season-ending injuries: running backs Rodney Anderson and Marcelias Sutton, defensive end Jalen Redmond and center Jonathan Alvarez are among the most notable.
But OU was also without safety Kahlil Haughton, defensive lineman Neville Gallimore, outside linebacker Mark Jackson and running back T.J. Pledger on Saturday.
Those injuries have not been disclosed, and there could be more players out.
"You go on down the list," Riley said. "There's about 10 of them we could name. We'll see. I don't think any of those guys are extremely long-term, but we'll just have to see going into the short week here how we progress."
