Rams outlast Chiefs 54-51

Jared Goff threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to Gerald Everett for the go-ahead score with 1:49 to play, and the Los Angeles Rams outlasted the Kansas City Chiefs for a 54-51 victory in Los Angeles on Monday night in a high-octane NFL offensive showdown that somehow surpassed the hype.

Patrick Mahomes threw six touchdown passes in his latest jaw-dropping performance for the Chiefs (9-2), but he also threw two interceptions in the final 1:18 as the Rams (10-1) hung on to win the highest-scoring Monday night game ever played and the first NFL game with two 50-point performances.

Goff passed for 413 yards and four touchdowns, while Marcus Peters and Lamarcus Joyner came up with late interceptions as the Rams held on.

The highest-scoring game in the league this season was an offensive fantasia featuring 1,001 combined yards and ingenious scheming from mastermind coaches Andy Reid and Sean McVay.

Bills QB Allen set to return

Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen will make his return to the starting lineup Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Coach Sean McDermott made the announcement on Monday. Allen missed four games after suffering an elbow injury in Buffalo’s Week 6 loss to the Houston Texans. He returned to the practice field before the team’s Week 11 bye but didn’t play in Week 10 against the New York Jets. Browns to face former coach Jackson, Bengals

While the Browns relaxed during the bye week, their fired former coach went back to work.

Hue Jackson’s got a new gig.

And this strange season in Cleveland will take another odd turn Sunday when the Browns face the Bengals and Jackson, who somehow survived an 0-16 season and was only briefly unemployed before being hired last week as a special assistant to Cincinnati coach Marvin Lewis.

Raiders sign former Owasso star Hatcher

The Oakland Raiders signed former Owasso High School star Keon Hatcher off Green Bay’s practice squad on Monday.

This will be Hatcher’s second stint with the Raiders. The 6-foot-1, 212-pound receiver out of Arkansas originally signed with the Raiders in 2017 as an undrafted free agent.

In corresponding moves, the Raiders placed receiver Brandon LaFell (Achilles) on injured reserve and cut receiver Saeed Blacknall.
