Lindsey Stirling believes in guiding angels, especially at Christmas.

“‘Angels We Have Heard On High’ has always been one of my favorite songs, since I was a kid. We would go caroling as a family, and that was our favorite song. We thought we sounded so good when we would sing it, and that number in the show is really special,” Stirling said in a phone interview last week between tour rehearsals.

“Since my father passed away and since I lost my best friend three years ago … I truly believe that I have received so much help from my angels.”

The electronic violinist, 32, last month released a deluxe edition of her 2017 best-selling holiday album, “Warmer in the Winter,” and on Friday, she will embark on “The Wanderland Tour”, which will make an Oklahoma City stop Dec. 1 at Chesapeake Energy Arena.

“There’s, of course, lots of dancing. I’ve got six amazing dancers that share the stage with me that are just so, so good. The choreography is everything from jive to pop to beautiful ballroom waltzes and pointe ballet,”

she said. “It takes a ton of work to be able to play this very technical instrument like the violin and then being able to do pirouettes and jumps and choreography at the same time. … But it’s something that makes it so visually fun.”

Stirling has showcased her singular skill as a dancing violinist on “America’s Got Talent” and “Dancing with the Stars.” She said

repetition is key: First she memorizes the violin part until she can play it by memory, then she learns the choreography without the instrument, and finally she combines the two.

“Through blending all these different things, the violin is still the foundation, but now it’s about … the storytelling, it’s about combining it with all kinds of different styles

of music, about the movement and the costumes even,” she said.

“The show kind of spans everything from some of your jolly fun Christmas that makes you want to smile and want to dance to very heartfelt and kind of like the spiritual side of Christmas where I get to share … what it means to me.”
