Ferguson puts in some post-practice work

After the Thunder wrapped up practice on Monday, Terrance Ferguson stayed for a little work.

The 20-year-old turned his ankle last week against Golden State and has missed the Thunder’s last two games. Thunder coach Billy Donovan said despite Ferguson’s postpractice work, he still isn’t practicing.

Ferguson, like Hamidou Diallo — who also sprained his ankle in the win against the Warriors — will be evaluated later this week.

“This is part of his rehab,” Donovan said of Ferguson on Monday. “He just basically didn’t do anything with the team. When we finished up practice this is his opportunity to get to do some cutting, and then we will see how he feels. But he’s on the same track when we will reevaluate after 10 days.”

Roberson continues ‘steady progress’

Another reevaluation date looms for Andre Roberson. In early October, Roberson experienced a setback in his recovery from left knee surgery. The Thunder said then that Roberson would be reevaluated in two months.

Donovan said Roberson has been able to participate in scripted five-man scenarios where he can run around with the team, but no contact drills.

In regard to Roberson’s reevaluation date, Donovan wasn’t specific, saying “it’s going to be some time here for that.”

“He’s been making steady progress all the way through,” Donovan said. “That’s a tribute to him and how hard he’s worked. It’s been really positive.”

Abrines getting stronger

One player who was a healthy practice participant was Alex Abrines, who has been battling a viral illness for more than a week.

Abrines missed the Thunder’s entire three-game road trip to Phoenix, Sacramento and Golden State, then played just 15 minutes combined against Charlotte and Denver.

“Today was a really good day for him because we get a full practice, we went up and down and we got some contact, it was physical, which was great,” Donovan said. “So for him to get his legs from under him was a positive.”

The Thunder has two games this week at home — Wednesday against Cleveland and Friday against Atlanta — before starting a three-game road trip Monday against Detroit, Brooklyn and Chicago.
