MUSTANG — Mustang Public Schools didn't have to look far to find a permanent leader.

The school board voted unanimously Monday night to hire Charles Bradley as the district's permanent superintendent.

Bradley, a 20-year district employee, has served as interim superintendent since July 1, when Sean McDaniel became Oklahoma City Public Schools' new superintendent.

“I am humbled and honored to be selected as the superintendent of Mustang Public Schools," Bradley said. "I have devoted my adult life to public education and it is a true blessing to serve all 12,000 students and 1200 employees of the Mustang school district.”

Following a nationwide search to replace McDaniel, the board announced that Bradley was the final candidate for the job.

Board President Jeff Landrith said the choice was clear.

"We had a lot of excellent candidates from around the state and beyond, but Mr. Bradley stood out as our top candidate," he said on the district's website.

A former science teacher, Bradley has also served the Mustang district as an interim high school principal and the district's top academic officer. He picked up some of McDaniel's responsibilities during the transition of leadership.

McDaniel served as Mustang's top administrator for six years. He was hired May 22 to lead the Oklahoma City district.
